This is an old revision of the document!
You can start using Git Winch in a few minutes. Firstly you need to download and install Git Winch. That's explained here. Once Git Winch is running, registration is very easy.
Whenever Git Winch starts, it will always check the presence of a special file named registered.txt in the same folder as the application folder. If the file is not present, it will assume you may not have registered and it will pop-up this registration dialog. Fill in all the details and click on the 'Register' button. A confirmation email would be sent to the email address you gave.
NOTE: Your login will NOT be active till you have confirmed the registration using the link in the email sent to you by our server. You need not quit the running application. Instead you can wait till you have confirmed. Then you can simply login! As you wait, you can read the documentation too from right within Git Winch itself.
It goes without saying that when you have successfully confirmed your email address, you can simply click on 'x' on the green registration form and provide your credentials and login.
When you login successfully the very first time, it will create the aforesaid special file registered.txt that contains a code. Do NOT delete that file thereafter.
Private/Customized Git Winch
Git Winch can be privately hosted too. So you need to check where you have to register. If you got the zip file from our website; then the registration is done via our main website for Git Winch namely; https://gitwinch.com
If you are running a privately hosted version of Git Winch you would need to ask the person who gave you the zip file (or you could look inside the gitwinch.ini file and read the value given for entry named: “SystemAPIurl” and go to the website mentioned there)
NOTE:
In most cases, private/customized Git Winch may not allow registrations using the aforesaid method. Instead the owner of that office would be able to register others in that office or division in the office.
