This is an old revision of the document!
You can login using either of your identity: The username or the email address that you had registered.
To make things easy, we recommend that you login using your username. But if you had forgotten your username, you can also login using your email address. In that case, Git Winch will give short message in the Log where you can read the username you had used.
IMPORTANT
Treat your username like your password: Never reveal it to all and sundry. You would need to reveal it only to Repository owners/managers who want to add you as member of that repository. All public information about the content you make (e.g. Kanban cards/comments/file-notes and commits) would be attributed to your actual full name and not this username. Read about full name here.
Hence, do NOT Login when you are doing a screen-share of your computer. Others will be able to get to know your username.
Please note: Git Winch can be privately hosted too. In order to check the coordination server that particular Git Winch is connected to, open the file gitwinch.ini in the application folder and check this entry:
SystemAPIurl=<url>
Extract the domain name from the value for the <url> indicated after the equals-to sign. That would be the website where you have to register and get your username.
The username and your password are used to login to Git Winch.
If you are not using a privately hosted Git Winch, follow the registration link at our main website: https://gitwinch.com You can easily get a free registration into our own common coordination server. (It is a pay-as-you-go system. You get some initial credits free for you to try it out)
